Kenya is located in East Africa. Its population is 32 million; its land area 225,000 square miles (about the size of France).
Man probably originates from Kenya or its surrounding areas. Fossils suggest that protohumans existed in the area more than 20 million years ago. Recent discoveries near Kenya's Lake Turkana show that hominids such as Homo habilis and Homo erectus lived in Kenya 2.6 million years ago.
During the first half of the 20th century, Kenya's interior central highlands were settled by British and other European farmers, who became rich farming coffee.
Kenya has huge national parks with some of the finest African flora and fauna. Kenya's Parks are famous for lions, giraffes, elephants and huge herds of Zebra, Wildebeest or buffalo. Kenya also is a popular destination for beach holidays and has a few beautiful beaches, some of them next to Mombasa.
Kenya's National Parks are: Aberdare, Amboseli, Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Mount Kenya, Mount Elgon, Nairobi, Meru, Samburu, Sibiloi, Tsavo East and Tsavo West.
