In the State of Arizona, the Grand Canyon is a spectacular gorge of the Colorado River in the North-West.

It is about 350 km (220 miles) long and up to 1870 m (6135 ft) deep, and is cut in multicolored rock strata laid down over more than 1000 million years.





The most beautiful stretch of the canyon walls lies within a national park covering 4931 km2 (1904 sq miles).





Almost 3 million people visit the canyon each year.
