Iowa is a Midwestern state covering 145 791 km2 (56 290 sq miles) between the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.

More than 90 per cent of it is farmland, producing pigs, cattle, maize and soya beans. Iowa is second only to California by value as a producer of agricultural equipment and as a processor of food. DES MOINES is its capital.





Des Moines USA

State capital of Iowa. It stands in the middle of the state on the Des Moines River, about 190 km (120 miles) east of the Missouri river. The city is a manufacturing, trade, financial and cultural centre in an area producing maize and dairy goods.
