North Dakota is a Midwestern state on the Canadian border.

It covers 183 022 km2 (70 665 sq miles) and stretches westwards from the Red River to the high plains on the border of Montana. Agriculture is the main livelihood, producing wheat, beef, oats and barley; coal, oil and lignite are the chief minerals.
