Washington State USA is a State covering 176 617 km2 (68 192 sq miles) in the northwest, bordering Canada. It is traversed from north to south by the Coast and Cascade ranges; the latter rises to 4392 m (14 410 ft) at Mount Rainier. Wheat, cattle and apples are the main farm produce, and the region is rich in fish, especially salmon.





Industries in Washington state include aerospace, timber processing and food processing. OLYMPIA is the state capital and SEATTLE the chief town and port.





Olympia USA is the Capital of the northwestern state of Washington and port at the head of Puget. Sound, more than 250 km (155 miles) from the Pacific Ocean. It is a centre for tourists visiting the state's mountains and forests.
