Gunung Stong Peak - Wat Phothivihan Temple - Kota Bharu

Jelawang Falls
Go to Gunung Stong peak and enjoy the seven waterfalls, one of which, Jelawang Falls, is the highest waterfall drop in South-East Asia, at 1006.5 feet. Located in the Dabong Forest Reserve, the surrounding area is unspoiled and rich with animal and plant life. This is a wonderful spot for ecotourism in Malaysia. With natural forests and waterfall trekking, Gunung Stong is the place for pure nature lovers. The beautiful sunrise over the mountain is an unforgettable sight.

Buddha statue
Visit one of the largest Buddhist Temples in Asia, Wat Phothivihan Temple, with its 40m-long reclining Buddha statue. Built in 1973, this temple is framed by sea almond and coconut trees. The reclining Buddha was spared from the elements when a roof was built above it about a decade ago.

2 nights in Kota Bharu.

  • Wat Phothivihan Temple

  • To get there : go to Chabang Empat, reach Kampung Jambu,
7.5 miles North of Kota Bharu

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page", St. Augustine said. Here at www.travel-university.org we believe that every page must be read and explored. Travel is an avenue of learning that no text or classroom can teach. The world is a living classroom and you the student. We invite you to the www.travel-university.org library where you can read general interest and detail oriented articles.
