Port on the west coast of Jutland in the lee of the holiday island of Fans. Its original harbor was built in 1868, primarily as a gateway for exports to Britain (to which a ferry still operates). Today, it is the world's largest export harbor for butter and bacon, and Denmark's biggest fishing port. It also has an airport, an art centre, a maritime museum and a university.
