Called also the City of Lights (la Ville Lumière), Paris is a major tourist destination and cultural center. The city, often called romantic, is famous for its architecture, its urban perspectives and avenues, and also its museums. Crossed by the River Seine, it is divided into two parts: the Right Bank (Rive droite) to the north and the smaller Left Bank (Rive gauche to the south.
The original Latin name of Paris was Lutetia Later, the city was renamed Paris, after the Gallic Parisi tribe.
