Day 8:

Tyrone Crystal Factory - Mellifont Abbey

Mellifont Abbey Visit Ireland's first Cistercian monastery, Mellifont Abbey. The ruins of this abbey are extremely flattened but the general layout can be discerned.

Only one building remains relatively intact, which has a fine vaulted roof with carved capitals in the 'supporting' columns.

The most amazing structure though is the octagonal two storey lavabo which originally held a fountain.

Tyrone Crystal Factory
Experience the art of crystal-making first hand at Tyrone Crystal Factory. There you will go through the history and process of crystal-making and you will be able to watch craftsmen at work.
Go back to Dublin.

End of the tour.
