Here under Switzerland - Lucerne, you will find travel information about Lucerne, the city of bridges and towers.

To see and do in Lucerne:

LucerneKappellbrücke - A wooden bridge that is a symbol of the town. Situated in the place where the Reuss leaves the lake, this covered wooden bridge was entirely rebuilt after a fire in 1993. Dating back to the 14C, and flanked with a large octagonal tower, it used to protect the lake side of the town. It was decorated with 100 paintings on wood in the 17C; copies of the old paintings have replaced the originals.

Museum of Swiss transportation - A pleasant and educational area. Created in 1959, this museum is spread across 12 buildings separated by play or eating areas and offers visitors of all ages the chance to journey through the past and present with an exhaustive description of the development of transportation in Switzerland. Here you will also find the history of the railways and roads, air travel and shipping as well as the development of tourism. A section is devoted to space travel.

Lucerne LionPilatus-Kulm - One of the major attractions of the Swiss Alps. To get up to the Pilatus, that overlooks the Four Cantons Lake, take a ride on one of the steepest railways in the world. From the upper resort, climb a few minutes more to the summit of the Esel (alt. 6,300 feet), from where you can enjoy the view of the Alps and the lake below. A walk around the gallery hew from the rocky face of the Oberhaupt is also recommended.

Kolsch is not only the dialect spoken here but, also the name of their own top-fermented beer. There are more than 4,000 pubs, restaurant's and brewery taverns in Cologne.

Unlike many of the world's large cities, Cologne, with a population of over a million, gets better every day, there are more things to do and see, more new and innovative buildings... more
