Here under Switzerland - Zug, you will find travel information about Zug, the city by the Zug Lake.
To see and do in Zug:
Zug Lake - It is the sixth largest lake in Switzerland, covering 15 square miles and stretching approximately 9 miles north to south. The lake is divided into two basins by the Kiemen peninsula. Its blue waters, setting among pleasant hills and its good local facilities make it a very popular place for holidaymakers.
Zug Old Town - The Old Town of Zug is defined by fortified ruins and crossed by the Unter-Altsadt and the Ober-Altstadt. The district contains some fine old buildings such as the painted houses along the Fish Market, the Clocktower, decorated with the coats of arms of the eight first cantons of the Confederation or Kolinplatz, which has a pretty fountain decorated with flowers.
Zug Docks - From Seestrasse to the Alpenquai, the banks of the Zug lake offer fine views of the peaks of central Switzerland (Rigi, Pilatus, Bürgenstock, Staserhorn) and, in the background, the Bern Alps.
St Oswald's Church - In the late Gothic style, St Oswald's was built in the 15-16C. The interior is vaulted with diagonal ribs and simplified with massive pillars. The church houses many statues of saints, several triptychs in painted and gilded wood, and some frescoes decorating the vault of the nave and the sides.
"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page", St. Augustine said. Here at www.travel-university.org we believe that every page must be read and explored. Travel is an avenue of learning that no text or classroom can teach. The world is a living classroom and you the student. We invite you to the www.travel-university.org library where you can read general interest and detail oriented articles.
