Although Stonehenge was reputedly used by Celtic Druids as a temple for sun worship, the Druids did not arrive in Britain until the 3rd century BC - at least 1000 years after Stonehenge was completed. Many of the stones were transported more than 320 km (200 miles) from quarries in Wales.
