How To Find A Michelin Listed Hotel

The Red Michelin Guide is one of the most trusted and the oldest of all travel guides in the world.

The best way to use a Michelin Red Guide to choose your hotel, is to buy the actual book. As of 2012, Michelin still did not come up with an ebook format; so you will have to spend ca $20 on an actual old-fashoned paper book.

However, if you consider at least 2 or 3 hotel stays in the area covered by that guide book, it is certainly worth the investment!

2. Main article

The Red Guide is published yearly in spring. The previous year's edition can usually be found at discounted prices, and is (most of the time) accurate enough.

The books have hardly any text at all; they use international symbols to mark hotels as particularly quiet, suitable for conferences, with an undercover garage, air conditioning and other facilities and services.

Hotels that are particularly nice are highlighted.

There are maps allowing you to quickly look for a hotel offering quiet rooms, fine cuisine, etc.

If buying a paper guide is out-of-the question, or if you want to quickly find one single hotel, here is an alternative way, online only to keep those internet-addicts happy!

1. Go to www.viamichelin.com

2. Select "Hotels"

3. Click on the relevant continent on the world map

4. When the map of your continent loads, use your mouse wheel to zoom into the desired area. You will see a map like this:

5. Click on the tabs representing hotels. A hotel that is listed in the printed version of the Red Michelin Guide displays a "Red Guide Book" icon:
