Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet of the Solar system. Its diameter is 11 times and area 120 times larger than those of the Earth. It can contain 1,300 earths. Its force of gravitation is two and a half times that of the Earth.

Jupiter has twelve sub-planets. It is flatter at the poles but its flatness is 8000 km while that of the Earth is only 45 km.

Jupiter's atmosphere is 9,656 km thick. As the temperature is -130oC, it has been covered with layers of ice thousands of metres thick. It is impossible for the vegetation and the animals to exist at such a temperature. Hence, it is known as a cold planet.

It takes about 12 years to make one revolution around the Sun but it takes only 9 hours and 55 minutes to complete one rotation about its axis.

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page", St. Augustine said. Here at www.travel-university.org we believe that every page must be read and explored. Travel is an avenue of learning that no text or classroom can teach. The world is a living classroom and you the student. We invite you to the www.travel-university.org library where you can read general interest and detail oriented articles.
