Saturn

In Indian astrology, Saturn is usually known as a cruel planet but it is a beautiful star to look at. It has 9 sub-planets revolving around it.

It takes about 29.5 years to make one revolution around the Sun. As it moves slowly, it is known as Shanishcer to Hindus.

Saturn is surrounded by a ring which is at a distance of 12,875 km and revolves around the planet with a speed of 20 km per second. The ring appears to be constituted of small particles and has a width of 15 km.

Saturn is 95 times heavier than the Earth but is very light as its relative density is 0.87. If it can be put into water, the planet will float and will not sink.

Saturn has a temperature of 150oC below freezing point. It is covered with snow cover which is many thousand km thick. It is covered with dense clouds and the atmosphere is very dense.
